There’s been 111 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the province from 11,979 test completed on Sept. 10.  

In Alberta, there’s 1,444 active cases of the virus and 13,718 recoveries. Hospitalizations are down a bit since yesterday with 41 people in the hospital, six of which are in intensive care. There was one new death reported, and one death was removed from the total as it was determined it was not COVID-19 related. The total remails at 253. 

There is an outbreak in one unit at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Grande Prairie that has two cases. Dr. Hinshaw says testing and contact tracing is underway, and the hospital remains safe for patients and staff. She says that Alberta Health Services has reported there is no ongoing risk to patients or staff in the rest of the facility, the unit is on enhanced precautions, and anyone thought to be exposed is being directly contacted.

In Grande Prairie, there’s been one recovery and 12 active cases remain. In the County, two new cases were found and one person has recovered. 

Mackenzie County has ten new cases of COVID-19 and seven people have recovered. There are a few outbreaks still listed for La Crete: the La Crete Continuing Care Centre, Heimstaed Seniors Lodge and family gatherings.  

New cases were identified in Clear Hills County, the County of Northern Lights, the MD of Peace and the MD of Spirit River. Clear Hills Conty also had three recoveries and the MD of Fairview had two.
