A little before 8 p.m. Tuesday (May 5) evening, the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service Bezanson, Clairmont and Dunes Stations along with the Wembley Fire Department responded to a reported mobile home fire on Range Road 50 east of Clairmont.

Upon arrival, crews found fire spreading from the front porch of the home extending up the side and venting through the roof of the home. The fire was quickly brought under control and damage was contained to approximately half of the mobile home.

One member of the household did receive burn injuries to their hands and forearms, while attempting to save property from the fire. The individual was treated by AHS EMS and transported to hospital.

The cause of the fire is believed to be from smoking material placed near the exterior of the home and is currently under investigation by the County Fire Marshall.
