Occupational Health and Safety(OHS) will be investigating after outbreaks at both the Cargill processing facility in High River and the JBS plant in Brooks.

Deputy Minister of Labour Shawn McLeod says, “these investigations are looking into the circumstances surrounding potential exposure of workers at these facilities to the COVID-19 disease.”

They are looking to the circumstance behind multiple confirmed cases and one death at Cargill.

There are 480 cases of COVID19 related to the Cargill plant. Approximately 440 of them are Cargill employees. There are also 124 confirmed cases so far related to the JBS plant.

One worker has died and AHS is conducting an investigation to see if the death is related to COVID-19.
