On Dec. 3, B.C. reported 694 new cases of COVID-19 from 12,165 tests completed. Of the new cases, 23 were in the Northern Health Region. 

There are now 9,103 active cases in the province, with 24,928 recoveries. Of the active cases, 325 people are in the hospital, with 80 of these in intensive care. 

They reported 12 more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 481 since the start of the pandemic. 

In northeast B.C., 63 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the last two weeks, Nov. 20 to Dec. 3. There’s been a total of 291 cases in the region since the start of the pandemic.

There are also several school exposures in the northeast, which are listed on the Northern Health website. If your child’s school has been notified of an exposure, no action is required unless you are contacted by Public Health or are otherwise directed by school officials. Public Health will contact you directly in case of any school exposure involving your child. 

In the Northern Health region, there are 235 active cases, 685 total recoveries and eight total deaths. Currently, 33 people are hospitalized with 11 of these in intensive care.  

On Dec. 3, a precautionary outbreak was declared at the University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George until at least Dec. 16, 14 days after the last known exposure. Northern Health is implementing enhanced COVID-19 precautions related to the Family Medicine Unit following lab-confirmed - but unrelated - cases of COVID-19. Right now, there’s no evidence of ongoing transmission.
