To supplement the County’s annual re-inspection cycle, homeowners in the west end of the County of Grande Prairie and the Town of Sexsmith will soon receive a request to provide information about their property through the mail.

Property re-inspection is a standard policy put in place by the provincial government that requires all Alberta municipalities perform ongoing re-inspections and complete overall inspections of all properties in a five-year term. The County assesses properties to determine their estimated market value annually, which is used to calculate property taxes.

To complete the required updates in a more effective manner that also reduces person-to-person contact between County assessors and residents, Request for Information forms will be mailed to residential properties in the designated re-inspection areas (shown on the map above).

Property owners can provide up-to-date information through one of the following options:

  • Fill out the online version of the form at www.countygp.ab.ca/annualinspections.
  • Fill out, scan and e-mail the printed copy of the form to assmtrfi@countygp.ab.ca.
  • Fill out, mail the form in the provided envelope.
  • Contact the County of Grande Prairie Assessment department at 780-513-3952 to provide requested information over the phone.

The deadline for property owners to complete the Requests for Information is May 15.

County assessors may still do in-person inspections of properties upon request, to verify submitted information and to follow up with property owners who did not complete the Request for Information. County assessors will also continue to do drive-by assessments for properties to ensure the property information the County has on file is up to date.

All Assessors drive County-marked vehicles and carry visible County identification. Collection of this information is outlined in the Municipal Government Act and subject to the Freedom of Information and Privacy of Protection Act.

Residents who have questions about annual property inspections can contact the Assessment department at 780-513-3952.
