Local and area families have improved access to care with the arrival of a new family medicine physician now practising in the community.

Dr. Saad Almanfoud is providing care at Fairview Medical Clinic and the Fairview Health Complex. He joins a team of four other family medicine physicians in town.

“I am very happy to welcome Dr. Almanfoud to the community,” says Health Minister Jason Copping. “Primary care is an integral part of the healthcare system and I am thankful for AHS and the local community working together to secure Dr. Almanfoud’s sponsorship. With his arrival, families in the area will now have more access to the healthcare services they need, including emergency care. Alberta’s government is proud to support opportunities such as these, with $90 million in Budget 2022 dedicated to rural recruitment and retention efforts.”

Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to recruit physicians for northern Alberta to meet community needs. AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as local Health Advisory Councils, the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician attraction and retention committees.
