The Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) announced today that there has been another positive COVID-19 case found in an individual from Whispering Ridge Community School (WRCS).

Administration at PWPSD were notified yesterday (Nov. 18) by Alberta Health Services (AHS) and the school gave the information to families and staff.

The school is still open for in-person learning, and necessary measures are being taken to prevent spread to staff and students. The school was disinfected and anyone who has not been identified as a close contact is still attending school in-person. Remote learning opportunities will be provided to isolating students.

To respect their privacy, the person’s name won’t be released. AHS is expected to provide all close contacts with further direction on testing and isolation instructions.

The WRCS is under watch status with Alberta Health, meaning they have five or more cases where the virus could have been acquired or transmitted in the school. It also means the Province is monitoring risk and working with the school, school authority and AHS.

School is open with near normal operations with some public health measures.
