The City of Grande Prairie’s Youth Advisory Council is inviting local youth to join in National Youth Week events from May 1 to 7.

National Youth Week is designed to express appreciation for youth and their active participation in the community. Youth are involved in recreation, volunteerism, arts, and sports, creating meaningful activities and spaces for their peers. The activities for National Youth Week are designed to support and give back to local youth.

The Youth Advisory Council is hosting events each day of the week for youth to participate in including:

Sunday, May 1

  • Youth Public Skate at the Coca Cola Center | 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Youth Stick & Puck at the Coca Cola Center | 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Monday, May 2

  • Youth Week Kick-Off at the Eastlink Centre | 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Field House Use at the Eastlink Centre | 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Wallyball at the Eastlink Centre | 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Tuesday, May 3

  • Psychological First Aid Course at Nordic Court | 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 
  • Museum Tour for Youth at the Museum. | 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, May 4

  • Communities Building Youth Futures (CBYF) Open House at Community Village| 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Thursday, May 5

  • Cupcake Decorating at the Eastlink Centre | 4:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.  
  • HelpSeeker Orientation for Youth at the Eastlink Centre| 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. 
  • Naloxone Training for Youth at the Eastlink Centre| 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Friday, May 6

  • Indoor Skate Park Party at Grande Prairie Activity Centre | 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Saturday, May 7

  • Art Gallery of Grande Prairie: Dissecting Identities Exhibit | 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

All activities include free entry for youth ages 12+.  Rental fees apply for skating at the Coca Cola Centre and registration required for Psychological First Aid at Nordic Court.
