The release of plans for a new multi-denominational church planting effort by Multiply has been announced.

Multiply, formerly known in Canada as C2C, is a missions organization for Mennonite Brethren conferences in both Canada and the US. Their recent announcement of plans for new church planting efforts is intended to assist in cost reduction for the organization.

An extended vision of the ministry lead to a growth in necessary expenses, and despite receiving the greatest amount of donations this year, Multiply still experienced a tough fiscal year with a significant gap between expenses and revenue.

C2C worked with over 20 Christian denominations originally as the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches' church-planting network, something questioned for its high costs associated with supporting churches that had few ties to the conference.

In an effort to better serve both those in the Mennonite Brethren denomination and its other denominational partners, Multiply's board hopes to become more involved in the decision-making processes having to do with the planting of new Mennonite Brethren churches.

Two shifts have been made to Multiply's mission, including the release of the multi-denominational aspect of church planting across North America. This will not affect the planting and resourcing of local Mennonite Brethren churches, the organization says.

Most importantly, the organization wishes to refocus Multiply as a Mennonite Brethren church-planting network, returning to its denominational roots and serving its denominational family as it has for the past 120 years.
