A man in Texas who was living in a storage shed says that despite losing almost all his possessions he's still grateful.

Fox News reports that Charles House, of Taylor, Texas, woke up to the smell of smoke on December 28. He ran out of the unit, and lost everything except his Bible in the blaze.

“He said His word would not perish, and the Bible did not burn,” House told the local news. “It was scorched, but it did not burn.”

House said on a GoFundMe he created that he was living in the storage unit while searching for housing.

The local fire marshall determined the cause to be faulty wiring.

While he's lost his housing, House says he's just grateful to be alive.

“It’s a blessing,” House said. “I can’t stop saying that because it’s a blessing. Thank God.”
