On May 1 at 2 a.m., Fort St John RCMP received a report of an assault in progress at the 10300th block of 95th Avenue in Fort St John. Fort St John RCMP frontline officers arrived quickly and located a man who had been assaulted with a weapon by 4 masked individuals. The injured man was medevac'd from Fort St John for medical attention and is in stable condition.

Frontline officers have conducted an extensive canvass of neighbouring residents.  The Fort St John Integrated Forensic Identification Services attended to examine the crime scene. This investigation is in the early stages and officers are continuing to follow up on all leads. 

"The RCMP believes this to be a targeted assault with minimal risk to the general public", said Constable Paul Waterman from the Fort St John, Serious Crimes Unit.  "We are asking anyone with information to contact police."
