The Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) teams at the City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, towns of Beaverlodge and Wembley, along with the Village of Hythe and Seniors Outreach, are inviting local seniors to register to participate in a virtual seniors’ tea event from June 1 – June 5.

Seniors from the participating communities are invited to register for this free initiative to receive a small gift delivery during the week and be entered in to win a prize draw. To register, contact 780-532-9722 ext. 2400 or email mbourk@countygp.ab.ca by Wednesday, May 27 at 5 p.m.

A musical performance by a local artist will also be streamed as part of the event. Residents can tune in to watch the performance on Friday, June 5 at 1:30 p.m. on the Grande Prairie Seniors’ Outreach Facebook page.

The bi-annual Seniors Tea event aims to recognize the value and positive contributions that seniors have provided and continue to provide our communities. It is also an opportunity to get others involved in recognizing seniors in their lives. Traditionally, the event is an in-person celebration that takes place every second year during Senior’s Week (June 1 – 7) but is being modified and held virtually in 2020 due to the pandemic.
