Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) teams at the County of Grande Prairie, City of Grande Prairie, and towns of Beaverlodge, Wembley and Sexsmith will be joined by community partners in welcoming local seniors to a free Seniors’ Tea event on June 9 in honour of Seniors’ Week.

Seniors from the County, City and neighbouring communities are invited to attend this free event, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the TARA Centre at Evergreen Park.

“Seniors play an important role in our lives and Seniors’ Week provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and appreciate their contributions to our communities and their wealth of experience and knowledge,” said Dale Bond, Home Support Coordinator with the County of Grande Prairie. “We look forward to welcoming our seniors to the return of our popular in-person Seniors’ Tea event following a virtual gathering in 2020. We thank local seniors for their valuable contributions to our past, present and future.”

“The City is excited to once again be part of the Seniors’ Tea event, and to see it return to in-person for 2022,” said Anna Stewart, Program Coordinator with the City of Grande Prairie. “Seniors’ Week is an important time for our community to reflect on and celebrate the value seniors add to our lives and the community as a whole. We are thankful for this opportunity and look forward to welcoming many bright faces on June 9.”

The free, fun-filled afternoon includes light refreshments, snacks, musical entertainment, and door prize draws.

Seniors must register to reserve their spot to attend. The deadline to register is Wednesday, June 1 by calling the County of Grande Prairie FCSS at 780-567-5586 or by emailing mbourk@countygp.ab.ca
