Local non-profit and community groups are invited to apply for funding from the County of Grande Prairie’s annual roadside clean-up program. Applications for the program are now open.

“We are looking forward to offering this annual program to support our local organizations again in 2023,” said Jennifer Besinger, Technical Services Manager. “It’s a wonderful way for organizations to get further involved in their communities while making a positive impact on the overall health of our environment.”

In 2022, 45 non-profit groups cleaned over 299 kilometres of County roadsides, collected approximately 14 tonnes of litter, and raised $69,910.00 for their organizations.

This year’s program will run throughout the month of May. Participating groups pick litter along County roadways, ditches and hamlets in exchange for funding.

Groups follow health and safety regulations, including wearing safety vests and gloves, adhering to all roadside signage and more.

Applications are open until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 24.
