Premier Jason Kenney announced on Tuesday that municipalities across the province will receive a piece of a total of $1.1B, which is meant to help build core infrastructure and get Albertans working.

The Government of Alberta will be matching $303M promised by the Federal government, which breaks down to $233M for infrastructure development and $70M for transportation that will each be matched by Provincial funding.

Kenney said this total of $606 million is in addition to the $500 million already announced through the Alberta Recovery Plan to support infrastructure projects and much-needed jobs in the province.

"From day one of the pandemic, I've said that Alberta must protect both lives and livelihoods. That's why Alberta was the first province to launch a detailed recovery strategy for the economy to recover from the COVID crisis," Kenney said during his public address.

In total, this announcement spells out $1.1 billion that will be directed to municipalities under the Alberta Recovery Plan and the Safe Start Agreement.

Minister of Municipal Affairs Kaycee Madu said, "While I know that we all have multiple and competing priorities, we all care deeply about Alberta and it's communities, and we are all focused on our people, our jobs and economic recovery of our province."
