This Sunday, the church community of Grande Prairie and area will gather together for an hour of praise and prayer for the Peace.

Henry Dyck is the organizer and he says, “We’re just planning to get together and just really pour out our hearts is prayer and praise for the Peace Country, for all our front line workers during this pandemic, and just to bring a positive, uplifting vibe to our community.”

Those who wish to attend are invited to come to the Eastlink centre parking lot on May 3 at 1 pm, and tune into 96.3 Reach FM for the program.

“There will be a few local pastors I have been reaching out to that will be joining in sharing a three-minute message with either prayer or positive message.

“RCMP, EMS, St. John’s Ambulance and GP Fire will also be attending. They’ll be having a squad car or an ambulance or a fire truck of some sort there and they’ll all each be giving a three-minute message as well. Just the same thing – for prayer or a positive, uplifting message for the Grande Prairie area.”

Henry was inspired to organize the event after watching a video on Facebook.

"It just touched my heart to see so many people gathering during a difficult time and just everybody being in unity and just uplifting their town and their frontline workers while they were battling with so many victims of COVID-19 in their hospitals. And I just took the time and I prayed and I had this tugging on my heart and felt that God had pushed me to do something for Grande Prairie and area.”

He is asking that people don’t go out of their vehicles and respect the social distancing protocols.

“We’re really happy that our province and our county have been so supportive of letting us make this happen. We want to make it as safe as possible for everybody.”

Alberta Health Services requests that you not attend this event if you are feeling sick.  For those in attendance in the Eastlink Centre parking, please park at least 2 metres from surrounding vehicles and stay in your vehicle for the duration of the program.
