Join believers across Canada in praying for camps as part of a national project this Sunday.

Schools, churches, businesses, and more around the world have suffered shut-downs during COVID-19. Now, camps are struggling to navigate closures, reopening, and new online options for summer fun in the midst of a pandemic.

Day of Prayer for Camp, a national project, is asking Canadians to join together in prayer for summer camps on May 31 to support these seasonal local ministries.

The project is a result of a partnership between One Hope Canada, InterVarsity, Christian Camping International-Canada, and the Fellowship of Christian Camps-BC.

Online, Day of Prayer for Camps shares that each year, approximately a quarter of a million children and youth attend Christian camps in Canada.

"For many, the experience will be life-changing as they hear the message of the Gospel for the very first time," Day of Prayer for Camp shares.

"Camp plays a big role in establishing a real and lasting faith for children, youth, volunteers and staff alike; it is a stepping-stone to lives being transformed."

On Sunday, the national project and believers across Canada will spend the day in prayer over camps and their ministries.

The project shares several ways you can pray for camps this summer.

  1. Pray for students and families - that their continued adjustment to COVID-19 restrictions would be smooth and that children can still hear the message of Christ during this time.
  2. Pray for camp leadership - for wisdom strength as they make difficult decisions about summer programming and that every need may be met.
  3. Pray for healthcare workers - for their protection and stamina as they care for those who are sick.
  4. Pray for the sick - that they and their families would know and feel the presence of Jesus.
  5. Pray for churches - for creativity as they continue to care for others and share the love of Christ during COVID-19.
