The IG Walk for Alzheimer's will be taking place on Saturday, May 27th at Muskoseepi Park. This annual event supports the Alzheimer's Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories and is an important opportunity to raise awareness and funds for a disease that affects many individuals and families in our community.

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects memory, thinking, and behaviour. In Alberta, it is estimated that over 50,000 people are living with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia, and that number is expected to rise significantly in the next 10 years. This is a concerning trend, as the disease not only has a significant impact on individuals and families, but also on our healthcare system and society.

The Alzheimer's Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories is a non-profit organization that provides support, education, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. They offer a range of programs and services, including information and referral, support groups, education and training, and one-on-one counselling. These services are essential for individuals and families facing the challenges of dementia, and your support will help ensure that these services continue to be available for those in need.

IG Walk for Alzheimer’s is one of society’s largest community fundraisers and it has helped raise over $200,000 annually.
