After posting to social media that he was losing his Christian faith, Marty Sampson is asking his followers to analyze the arguments of prominent Christian apologists

The Hillsong worship leader and songwriter, after making the post claiming, "I'm genuinely losing my faith and it doesn't bother me, " totally wiped his Instagram account.

Since his initial announcement about his shaky faith, a Christian Post op-ed was published asking for him to return to the faith. Sampson replied in a comment to clarify, "I wouldn’t say I have renounced my faith, but I would say it’s on incredibly shaky ground.

"I have and continue to analyze the arguments of prominent Christian apologists and biblical scholars, and am open minded enough to consider the arguments of atheist debaters and debaters from other religions."

Sampson says of the comment: "This is a window into my thought processes at the present time."

Since the Instagram wipe, Sampson posted photos of apologists like William Lane Craig, Ravi Zacharias, and John Lennox and captioned the photos by saying, "I don’t know these men personally, but I do watch them regularly and listen to their arguments. If you don’t know who they are, perhaps you may want to find out more about them."

All posts have now been wiped again and a lone photo and quote from Martin Luther King Jr. that says, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."

In his Christian Post comment, Sampson says, "If the truth is true, it will remain so regardless of my understanding of it. If I search it out, surely it will become even more clearly seen as the truth that it is. Examining a diamond more closer reveals the quality of the diamond. As I am still breathing, I am still learning."

Many of his followers have commented on Instagram with pleas, their own arguments, and links to resources for Sampson in hopes that he would return to his Christian faith.

As for Sampson's current relationship with Hillsong Church: "My thoughts are my own, and do not represent any church. If anything all I have ever received from Hillsong is support and the opportunity to follow my own mind, and they have always taught what I perceive to be sound Pentecostal doctrine.

"You cannot have well educated opinions without educating yourself well."
