Due to the warmer temperatures and spring winds, a hot-spot on the east side of the Chuckegg Creek fire is active today (May 12). 

There are 17 firefighters, 3 helicopters, airtankers and heavy equipment working on extinguishing this hot-spot. Smoke is visible to nearby communities. 

The Chuckegg Creek fire is still under control. 

Since March 1, the High Level Forest Area has recorded 9 wildfires that have burned a total of 3 hectares.

The wildfire risk for the area ia high, and a fire ban and off-highway vehicle restriction is in effect.
