The winter months are a great time to escape the cold and head somewhere warm. While it is nice to get away - making sure your property isn’t a target while you are gone is important. It is a good idea to have someone that can check in on your residence. Also letting trusted neighbours know that you will be away is helpful to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity.

There are some things that can be done to not alert others to your absence:

• Set indoor and outdoor lights on a timer or sensor lights outside

• Have a neighbour or friend shovel your driveway/walkway

• Install a camera that you can monitor

• Do not announce your travel plans on social media

These tips can help give you peace of mind while gone and hopefully prevent you from returning home to find unwelcome activity on your property.
