Honourable Guests Commemorate Opening Of First Collision Reporting Centre In An RCMP-Policed Community

City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Bill Given; RCMP Deputy Commissioner Todd Sean; and Accident Support Services President, Steve Sanderson marked the opening of the Grande Prairie Collision Reporting Centre with speeches and a ribbon cutting ceremony, earlier today.

The centre is the first in Canada for an RCMP-policed community.

“We believe our community is better served when our efforts successfully place the right resources in the right place,” said Bill Given, City of Grande Prairie Mayor. “City Council has been and remains committed to improving services for our residents by implementing innovative ideas, such as the Collision Reporting Centre.”

Grande Prairie RCMP Superintendent, Don McKenna served as the MC for the celebration.

"The new Collision Reporting Centre will provide timely collision analysis that will be used to focus police resources,” said Don McKenna, Grande Prairie RCMP Superintendent. “The Centre will also create new efficiencies that reduce the administrative burden on the RCMP officers and support staff."

Accident Support Services International manage the local office and provide the collision reporting service to residents in Grande Prairie.

“Our focus is on customer service. We want to get people off the roadway and in to a nice, clean, and warm environment,” said Steve Sanderson, President and CEO of Accident Support Services International. “We make it convenient for them as most people come in on their lunch or after dinner. This truly is a one-stop shop: not only can drivers report to the police but they can report to their insurer and initiate their claim at the same time.”
The CRC will operate out of the Eastlink Centre located at 10 Knowledge Way in Grande Prairie. Hours of operation are at 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday.
