Residents from the Hillside neighbourhood are invited to share stories about their positive experiences living in the neighbourhood on the City’s website.

The request to residents for stories is part of a larger engagement process to develop a Hillside neighbourhood entrance feature. Themes will be drawn from the stories and used to inspire a logo design for the entrance feature.

Proposed to be located at the northeast corner of the intersection of 100 Avenue and 96 Street, the entrance feature will include landscaping elements and constructed elements. It is hoped to serve as a welcome to the neighbourhood, provide a sense of identity, and aid in revitalizing the area.

The request for stories is part of the City’s three phases of engagement for the neighbourhood entrance feature.

Phase One: Collect resident stories online and draw themes to create three logo options.

Phase Two: Share logo options in a survey and collect community feedback on the logos.

Phase Three: Develop and present final entrance feature options to public and ask the community to select their favourite.

The engagement occurs from February to May. The neighbourhood entrance feature is part of the implementation of the Hillside Area Revitalization Plan that was adopted in 2017. The City is anticipating to construct the entrance feature in the summer of 2019.
