Giving Tuesday is a yearly, international movement empowering donors to give to the causes that matter to them. Giving Tuesday is coming up on November 29th and the Grande Prairie Public Library will be participating to help raise funds for Little Free Pantry.

Little Free Pantry started in June 2021. The Pantry is located in the Grande Prairie Public Library and filled with non-perishable food items like wrapped snacks, water bottles, juice boxes, hygiene items, and pre-packaged meals.

Tara Wiebe, GPPL Head of Customer Services says, “We just have it out front right by our customer service area and people are free to grab whatever it is that they need. They don't need a library card, they don't need to talk to anybody before accessing it. It really is just there for anybody to grab what they need.”

Little Free Pantry has been very successful so far, requiring them to fill the shelves up every morning.

Wiebe says their goal this year is to raise $2000 for Little Free Pantry on Giving Tuesday.

Monetary donations, as well as non-perishable food items are both accepted and can be dropped off at the Grande Prairie Public Library on or before November 29.
