Grande Prairie City Council has approved extended transit hours to help improve access to transit services and enhance mobility around the community for residents who rely on transit during early morning and evening hours.

The new operational hours for transit are:

  • Monday to Friday: 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

“Council was eager to extend transit hours and continue to improve transit services in Grande Prairie,” said Jackie Clayton, Grande Prairie Mayor. “Transit is a valuable service provided by the City that helps improve residents’ quality of life by creating an affordable, accessible, and reliable transportation option and council is pleased with the recommendations made by administration.”

“Over the years, the City has made many operational changes to transit to ensure we are delivering the best possible service to residents,” said Steve Harvard, Director of Transit Services. “Council’s decision provides additional opportunities for the community to attend later classes, events and employment utilizing a reliable and accessible transit service.”

Council’s decision will be funded through the existing transit services budget.
