In the City of Grande Prairie, six new COVID-19 cases were reported today (March 16), and 19 people recovered. The active total is 160 with 1650 recoveries. The outbreaks at Grande Prairie Care Centre and the private group home have been declared over.

In the County of Grande Prairie, no new cases were added, and five people recovered. There’s now 65 active cases and 471 recoveries.

Peace Region totals:

Provincially, Alberta has reported 355 new cases from 6,018 tests completed and our positivity rate sits at 5.9%. Right now, 4,776 cases are active in the province. With 387 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 132,415.

There’s 260 people in the hospital with the virus, with 44 of these in intensive care. This is five more hospitalizations than reported yesterday, and two more of ICU admissions. In the North Zone, there’s 27 people in the hospital with two of these admitted to intensive care.

Alberta has reported three more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 1,952 since the start of the pandemic.

Sixty-two more variant cases of COVID-19 have been found for a total of 1047. There have been 15 total found in the North Zone since testing for the variants began, three of which are newly reported.

There have now been 379,882 vaccine doses administered, with 91,868 people fully immunized with two doses.
