Alberta saw higher daily cases numbers over the weekend, and active cases in the province are now over 3,000. 

On Friday, Oct. 16, 311 cases were reported from 16,021 tests completed, 231 were found on Oct. 17 from 12,556 tests, and Oct. 18 saw 356 cases reported from 13,578 tests. Altogether, there were 898 new cases and 592 recoveries. 

There are now 3,138 active cases in Alberta, with 19,243 recoveries. 

Currently, there are 117 people hospitalized with COVID-19, with 18 of these in intensive care, seven more than Friday. 

There’s been four more deaths, and the total is at 292. 

In Grande Prairie, 16 new cases were found, and 16 people recovered. There are still 49 active cases in the Swan City, with 124 recoveries.  

In the County of Grande Prairie, four new cases were identified, and three people recovered, for seven active and 65 recoveries.  

Birch Hills County had two people recover and now has no active cases. Clear Hills County and the MD of Lesser Slave River each had one new case. The MD of Spirit River had three new cases and one person recover. Mackenzie County had one case removed from the recovered total.
