In the City of Grande Prairie, 22 new COVID-19 cases were reported today (April 23), and 38people recovered. The active total is 435 with 2,521 recoveries.

In the County of Grande Prairie, seven new cases were added, and 29 people recovered. There’s now 181 active cases and 836 recoveries.

An outbreak has been declared at Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital, as of April 21. There is one patient linked to the outbreak. Admissions are currently restricted and visitation is limited at this time.

Peace Region totals:

Provincially, Alberta reported 1,690 new cases from 17,562 tests completed and our positivity rate is about 10 per cent. Right now, 19,182 cases are active in the province. With 1,421 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 157,272.

There’s 549 people in the hospital with the virus, with 125 of these in intensive care. This is 31 more hospitalizations than reported yesterday and nine more ICU admissions. In the North Zone, there’s 48 people in the hospital with eight of these admitted to intensive care.

Alberta has reported five more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 2,059 since the start of the pandemic.

There’s been 1,184 more cases of variants of concern found. Of the active cases, 11,738, or 60.4 per cent, are variants. In the North Zone, 1,334 variant cases are active and 997 have recovered.

There have now been 1,319,837 vaccine doses administered, with 260,231 Albertans fully immunized with two doses.
