In the City of Grande Prairie, 47 new COVID-19 cases were reported today (April 26), and 21 people recovered. The active total is 488 with 2,596 recoveries and 25 deaths.

In the County of Grande Prairie, 20 new cases were added, and five people recovered. There’s now 219 active cases and 858 recoveries.

There were two North Zone deaths reported today, one of which was in Grande Prairie. One of these deaths was on April 20 and was a man in his 40s. The other was a man in his 70s on April 24. Both cases included comorbidities.

Peace Region totals:

Provincially, Alberta reported 1,495 new cases from 14,848 tests completed and our positivity rate is about 10 per cent. Right now, 20,610 cases are active in the province. With 1,014 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 160,617.

There’s 616 people in the hospital with the virus, with 145 of these in intensive care. This is 22 more hospitalizations than reported yesterday and five more ICU admissions. In the North Zone, there’s 55 people in the hospital with ten of these admitted to intensive care.

Alberta has reported seven more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 2,074 since the start of the pandemic.

There’s been 1,576 more cases of variants of concern found. Of the active cases, 13,187 or 64 per cent, are variants. In the North Zone, 1,576 variant cases are active and 1,264 have recovered.

There have now been 1,419,188 vaccine doses administered, with 274,289 Albertans fully immunized with two doses.
