There are active alerts or outbreaks in 376 Albertan schools, which is about 16% of all K-12 schools in the provinces. There are 203 active outbreaks, which includes 88 schools on the watch list.

With Grades 7-12 going online today, Dr. Hinshaw says we can expect to see a reduction in cases and outbreaks, though there will be lag time between action and results.

Dr. Hinshaw said she was alarmed at the high case numbers reported over the weekend but says with the same kind of lag in mind, we may continue to see high numbers for a bit. The doctor says it typically takes 10 to 14 days to see results from measures, and several of the new measures just came into effect on Friday, Nov. 27.
