This holiday season Grande Prairie RCMP Municipal Traffic Unit, Grande Prairie RCMP Integrated Traffic Unit, and city and rural members of Grande Prairie Detachment conducted enforcement initiatives focussed on promoting traffic safety. Between Dec. 1, 2021 and Jan.  1, 2022. RCMP issued a total of 628 traffic tickets in the Grande Prairie area.

Overall, 56 individuals were ticketed for speeding, 33 motorists were caught distracted driving and 43 impaired drivers were removed from the roads. In addition, 8 novice drivers were issued Immediate Roadside Sanctions (IRS). Three IRS warnings, and seven IRS 24hr suspensions were also issued. Another 117 received tickets for traffic safety violations including careless driving, driving with a prohibited or suspended licence, moving offences and more.

Grande Prairie RCMP is committed to community safety and will continue to conduct similar initiatives throughout the year with a goal of keeping the roads safe for everyone.
