Grande Prairie, Alta - On Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at approximately 5:00 AM Grande Prairie RCMP located the suspect associated to a robbery reported on Sunday December 16, 2018.

Awale Yusuf ABDI (32) of Grande Prairie is facing 26 charges stemming from this and other incidents. Charges include:

  • Robbery
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Theft of motor vehicle

ABDI remains in custody and will appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on January 2, 2019.

Grande Prairie RCMP Seek Assistance in Armed Robbery Investigation

Grande Prairie, Alberta - On Sunday, December 16, 2018 at approximately 9:00 AM Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle stolen from a youth male in the area of 107 Avenue and 109 Street. The male was getting something out of a parked vehicle when an unknown male approached. The suspect presented a weapon and demanded that the youth hand over the car keys. The suspect then drove off in the vehicle.

The young man was not physically injured.

RCMP members and RCMP Police Dog Services made extensive patrols but were unable to locate the suspect male.

Police believe this male may have been involved in other violent incidents and continue to actively try to locate the suspect. He is described as:

  • ·Male
  • ·Dark skinned
  • ·Black hair
  • ·Grey hoodie with black accents
  • ·Grey sweatpants
  • ·Black boots
  • ·Black toque

The stolen vehicle is described as:

  • 2013 Honda Civic
  • Red
  • License Plate BVZ 2065
