On Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP with assistance of Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit and Grande Prairie Police Dog Services responded to a report of a robbery at the Scotiabank located in the downtown core.
At approximately 2:00 p.m. a male suspect entered the bank demanding a large amount of cash and that he was in possession of explosives. Officers immediately responded and were able to arrest the male and take him into custody.
A subsequent search of the area and the male revealed the male was not in possession of any explosives.
Jeremy Winders (42) of Grande Prairie was charged with one count of robbery.
Following a judicial release hearing Winders was remanded into custody to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial court on Aug. 3, 2022.
