The Grande Prairie Outdoor Pool opens for the season on Friday, May 27 with drop-in swimming from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and weekend-long season opening activities, weather permitting.

The season opener includes daily prize draws, free treats and pool games from Friday, May 27 to Sunday, May 29.

The pool is open for the summer Monday to Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 9 p.m.

The May and June schedule includes public swim, family swim and adult swim times. Private bookings will also be available at the outdoor pool for larger groups and parties. 

“The outdoor pool has been a hallmark of our community for the past 60 years and we are excited to be able to welcome everyone back with drop-in now at full capacity,” says Mayor Jackie Clayton. “We are happy to provide continued community gathering space, outdoor recreation opportunities and fun for residents at the outdoor pool.”

The outdoor pool includes the following features for residents to enjoy during their visit:

  • Tots pool
  • Zero beach
  • Spanish steps and lily islands
  • Green space and leisure picnic area
  • Waterslide

This July marks the Grande Prairie Outdoor Pool’s 60-year anniversary at its current location after opening in 1962.

The City looks forward to a great summer providing outdoor fun and recreation to the community at the outdoor pool.
