The City of Grande Prairie’s Local Immigration Partnership Council is inviting residents to join in International Welcoming Week events September 10 to 16.

International Welcoming Week is designed to bring together new and long-term residents to create communities and spaces where everyone feels like they belong. It features a showcase of supports, services, and amenities that are available in the community.

The event line-up includes:

  • Saturday, September 10
    • Welcoming Week Kick Off at the Grande Prairie Museum | 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 11
    • Drop-In Games at the Activity & Reception Centre | 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Monday, September 12
    • French Game Night, Coffee & Sweets at the Association Canadienne-francaise de l’Alberta (ACFA) | 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 
  • Tuesday, September 13
    • Workplace Culture Presentation with The Work Place at the Grande Prairie Museum | 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
  • Wednesday, September 14
    • Open House with Grande Prairie Council for Lifelong Learning | 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.  
    • Guided Trail Tours & Snacks at the Muskoseepi Park Pavilion | 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 
    • English Conversation Club at Grande Prairie Centre for Newcomers Boardroom, Nordic Court | 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
    • Adult Colouring Night at the Grande Prairie Public Library| 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Friday, September 16
    • Mapping My Town Activity for ages 5 to 8 at the Grande Prairie Public Library | 10:30 am to 11:30 am
    • Free Skating & Rentals at the Coca-Cola Centre| 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
    • Open Field House Games at the Eastlink Centre| 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

All activities have free entry and are open to all ages unless otherwise indicated. The Grande Prairie Local Immigration Partnership looks forward to commemorating International Welcoming Week and supporting City Council’s Strategic Priorities of Engaging Relationships and Inclusive & Caring Community.
