Over 30 unique events, performances and workshops are taking place across Grande Prairie for Alberta Culture Days on September 28- 30.

Signature events include multicultural crafts, live art demonstrations, the Wearable Arts Show, Orange Shirt Day and more. For a full list of events to participate in for all interests, ages and skill levels, visit the Centre for Creative Arts website.

The weekend officially kicks off on Friday, September 28 at 10:00 a.m. with a Coffee Kick-Off at the Provincial Building with art displays, live performances and Grande Prairie Alberta Culture Days Guidebooks available for pick-up. These commemorative guidebooks feature a weekend schedule and exhibit listing. The books can be used for free transit during the festival and as a contest entry to win great prizes.

Local celebrations this year feature several new additions. On Friday, September 28, The Heritage Discovery Centre is unveiling their latest exhibit “In the Shadow of the Rockies: Alberta’s Sasquatch Stories” at 4:30 p.m. with a guest lecture from author Thomas Steenburg.

Saturday also features many new additions. The Montrose Cultural Centre is hosting Morning Yoga from 10:30 a.m to 11:30 a.m., a Grande Prairie Photo Club workshop at 2:30 p.m. and a premier video art installation from the Peace

Region Independent Media Arts Association (PRIMAA) titled “On Beat, Off Beat” all day. The 9th Annual Wearable Arts Show is on this same day with a free showing at 5 p.m. and a ticketed showing at 7 p.m.

Alberta Culture Days is a three-day festival held province-wide featuring interactive activities, artisan demonstrations, live performances, workshops and more. The festival aims to engage Albertans while celebrating the cultural diversity and creativity that makes our province unique.
