In the City of Grande Prairie, 87 new COVID-19 cases were reported, and 24 people recovered. The active total is 435 with 1,936 recoveries.

In the County of Grande Prairie, 35 new cases were added, and eight people recovered. There’s now 184 active cases and 578 recoveries.

Peace Region totals:

Provincially, Alberta has reported 1,351 new cases today (April 7) from 14,051 tests completed. Right now, 11,464 cases are active in the province. With 695 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 142,010.

There’s 333 people in the hospital with the virus, with 79 of these in intensive care. This is five more hospitalizations than reported yesterday, and three more ICU admissions. In the North Zone, there’s 35 people in the hospital with six of these admitted to intensive care.

Alberta has reported one more COVID-related death, a man in his 60s in the M.D. of Greenview, for a total of 2,002 provincially since the start of the pandemic.

There’s been 575 more cases of variants of concern found. Of the active cases, 4,951, or 43.2 per cent, are variants. In the North Zone, 566 variant cases are active and 94 have recovered.

There have now been 755,831 vaccine doses administered, with 133,401 Albertans fully immunized with two doses.
