In the City of Grande Prairie, 35 new COVID-19 cases were reported, and 50 people recovered. The active total is 485 with 2,381 recoveries.  

In the County of Grande Prairie, 13 new cases were added, and 17 people recovered. There’s now 211 active cases and 769 recoveries. 

Peace Region totals: 

Provincially, Alberta reported 1,345 new cases today (April 20) from 13,163 tests completed and our positivity rate is about 10.4 per cent. Right now, 18,481 cases are active in the province. With 1,283 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 153,002. 

There’s 476 people in the hospital with the virus, with 105 of these in intensive care. This is sixteen more hospitalizations than reported yesterday, and one more ICU admission. In the North Zone, there’s 42 people in the hospital with eight of these admitted to intensive care. 

Alberta reported five more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 2,048 since the start of the pandemic.  

There’s been 816 more cases of variants of concern found. Of the active cases, 10,520, or 56.9 per cent, are variants. In the North Zone, 1,263 variant cases are active and 732 have recovered.  

There have now been 1,194,516 vaccine doses administered, with 239,232 Albertans fully immunized with two doses.
