In the City of Grande Prairie, 27 new COVID-19 cases were reported today (April 27), and 39 people recovered. The active total is 476 with 2,635 recoveries.

In the County of Grande Prairie, 10 new cases were added, and 21 people recovered. There’s now 208 active cases and 879 recoveries.

Peace Region totals:

Provincially, Alberta reported 1,539 new cases from 13,743 tests completed and our positivity rate is about 11.4 per cent. Right now, 20,721 cases are active in the province. With 1,435 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 162,052.

There’s 635 people in the hospital with the virus, with 143 of these in intensive care. This is 19 more hospitalizations than reported yesterday and two fewer ICU admissions. In the North Zone, there’s 60 people in the hospital with 11 of these admitted to intensive care.

Alberta has reported seven more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 2,067 since the start of the pandemic. Fourteen previously reported COVID-related deaths were deemed to be from other causes and were removed from the total.

There’s been 812 more cases of variants of concern found. Of the active cases, 13,091 or 63.2 per cent, are variants. In the North Zone, 1,555 variant cases are active and 1,381 have recovered.

There have now been 1,468,785 vaccine doses administered, with 284,870 Albertans fully immunized with two doses.
