Alberta has added 257 new cases of COVID-19 today (March 2), from 5,864 tests completed for a positivity rate of about 4.5%.

Right now, 4,631 cases are active in the province. With 298 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 127,531.

There’s 261 people in the hospital with the virus, with 54 of these in intensive care. This is four more hospitalizations than reported yesterday, and six more ICU admissions. In the North Zone, there’s 26 people in the hospital with one of these admitted to intensive care.

Alberta has reported two more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 1,890 since the start of the pandemic.

Thirty-five more variant cases of COVID-19 have been found, for a total of 492. There have been 202 found in the Calgary Zone, 175 in the Edmonton Zone, 110 in the Central Zone, four in the North Zone, one unknown and zero in the South Zone.

There have now been more than 245,000 vaccine doses administered, with more than 156,000 people receiving one dose, and more than 88,000 people fully immunized with two doses.

In the City of Grande Prairie, 12 new cases were added, and eight people recovered. The active total is 208 with 1415 recoveries. An outbreak was declared at Tourmaline Oil Musreau in Grande Prairie. Twelve cases, with 11 of these active and one recovered, are connected with the outbreak.

In the County of Grande Prairie, 10 new cases were added today, and nine people recovered. There’s now 57 active cases and 408 recoveries.
