The school was designed and constructed to LEED Silver standards and features a learning commons located near the front entrance with three two-storey walls of glass, flexible furniture and a fireplace; break-out learning spaces throughout the school to provide teachers and students with quiet spaces to work and study; an expandable music room that opens up to a large flexible space; adjoining Kindergarten classrooms; foods, science and CTS classrooms; a centrally-located gym; and eight modular classrooms. In 2015, the County of Grande Prairie announced funding to support a playschool facility at WRCS. Principal Shawn O’Shea and Assistant Principals Jenny McAusland and Abby Stilwell form the school’s leadership team. Approximately 460 students transferred to WRCS from Harry Balfour School on September 4, 2018, the first day of classes.
