Grammy-nominated worship leader Cody Carnes has released his first-ever live-recorded album, God is Good!

The 12-track album was captured this summer during a special two-night worship event at Belonging Co. in Nashville. Special guests on the project include Kari Jobe, Natalie Grant, and Benjamin William Hastings.

"These songs really kind of came out of, you know, the last 18 months, which have been crazy for all of us," Cody explained. "These are the things I have to declare in the season."

He says the songs on this new album carry a sense of peace and joy when it doesn't make sense.

"Even the statement, God is good, came from when I went back and looked at all the songs I had written. I realized that unintentionally, there were a lot of them about the goodness of God, even in the titles," said Carnes. "There are three or four songs on this album that all have good in the title, and that wasn't on purpose, not by me anyway."

Cody says what he loved most about recording the live album was being surrounded by his favourite people, band and crew.

"Everybody was there. I recorded it live at my church at home, and it just reminded me of the emotions that I had on my wedding day when you're there with all of your people, and it's like, here's the moment, and everywhere you look are people you love."

The album was officially released on September 30, 2022, and to kick off his release weekend, Carnes and Kari Jobe stepped onto the legendary Grand Ole Opry Stage for their Opry debut.

"This night ended up being one of the best nights of my life.. so many of my favourite people worshipping together in one room. These moments are full of the joy and hope of Jesus.. they are a celebration of the goodness of God. I’m praying you also experience that when you listen!"

Today on Connections, Cody chats about the new album and what it was like to record it live. He'll also tell us how his family is doing.
