Coming up this week the Grande Prairie Sports Connection is celebrating parents in sports week, October 5-11th.

Whether it’s driving kids to practices and games, preparing team snacks, or organizing events, parents have a critical role to play in supporting their children in sport and activity, especially during COVID.

Join the GP Sports Connect in celebrating positive sport parenting. The initiative is with the Active for Life, a national organization that supports physical literacy.

Executive Director Karna Germsheid says the essential role that parents play in their kids and sport is a very important role for sports clubs

“It is to improve their efforts to inform and involve parents in all their decision making”

Grande Prairie Regional Sport Connection supports the growth of enhancements in the region. They founded because the region recognizes that sport volunteers are doing a lot of work with very little.

The organization is a free resource and they support those sport volunteers within those organizations and helping them advocate for themselves.
