After being cancelled for two years, Chris Tomlin is thrilled to be praising God with thousands of people, including a special Easter message from Max Lucado on Good Friday.
Previously called Good Friday Nashville, Tomlin and Lucado are running praise and worship with a sermon at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, calling this one Good Friday Worldwide. This is because, while the two will be performing live in person, the event will also be live streamed over Facebook for anyone around the world to take in.
"Coming together to remember the cross, to remember this weekend," Tomlin said to The Tennessean. "That’s what Easter is: It’s a remembrance of what Jesus has done for us.”
The event is happening on April 15 at 7:00 p.m. CDT. Since the event couldn't happen in person during the pandemic, the men found a way to share the special Good Friday concert with people everyone with an online event, calling it Good Friday Worldwide.
"Good Friday Nashville is one of the most rewarding things I have ever been a part of. When this event began 5 years ago, I had a dream it might become an annual thing…a tradition for family and friends to come together, to celebrate, to remember," says Tomlin.
Good Friday Worldwide television broadcast was seen in 32 countries around the globe. This year it is both in-person and online exclusively on Facebook.
Shortly after the first Good Friday Nashville evening, Tomlin wanted to time to have an even greater purpose.
"My wife, Lauren, and I had felt a calling to shed light on the foster care and adoption crisis in our nation. It was through that and our first Good Friday that our non-profit, For Others, came to be. And so, each year Good Friday Nashville benefits helping children find forever homes across our state. So, when you join us for this powerful night of worship… know that you are a part of making a difference in so many lives."
