For 25 years, Tim Hortons restaurant owners have supported their communities through the annual week-long Smile Cookie campaign.  During the campaign, 100 per cent of the proceeds from the sales of chocolate chunk cookies are donated to a charity.

The Smile Cookie campaign kicked off in Grande Prairie this week with the purchase of the first 20,000 cookies, graciously donated by Grande Prairie business owner, Sean Sargent.  Sean and his team in his A-Team van were busy delivering the cookies to local schools to kick off the annual event.

This is the 6th year that Tim Hortons has teamed up with the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation.  Funds raised will go towards a play centre and teen lounge in the pediatric unit at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Last year, approximately $65,000 was raised for the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation.  Major Gifts Officer Dawn Miller is hoping this year it will be at least $68,000.

“The last time I heard, our population was around 68,000. I would like to see $68,000 which means everyone in the city would get a cookie.”
