Nurses and other Alberta health-care workers will be able to do their own clinical risk assessment on patients to determine the level of personal protection they need while interacting with them.

They've reached an agreement with AHS on the safe and effective use of personal protection equipment while battling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Together the various groups representing nurses and other front line workers say it's critical that the appropriate steps are taken to protect and prevent exposure to and transmission of COVID-19.

Any staff coming within two metres of a suspected, presumed or confirmed COVID-19 patient will have access to N95 respirators.

There's no supply shortage of PPE in the province, but the groups have pledged to work together to regularly assess the supply of PPE (personal protective equipment) and the employers will continue to take action to ensure an adequate supply.
