The 2022 GMA Dove Awards released their list of nominations earlier this week and Canadian artist Jordan St. Cyr is sharing his thoughts on being nominated for two awards.

"A few years ago it was a pipe dream to think we'd ever be in consideration for something like this," says St. Cyr. "To be here now, to have this kind of honour bestowed upon us, it's disarming, humbling. I say us because while my names on everything, there are a lot of people working behind the scenes that support and lift up this calling I feel that's been put on my life."

St. Cyr is nominated for New Artist of the Year. He shares the category with Ryan Ellis, DOE, Anne Wilson, and Blessing Offor.

"The calibre of artists that are in this category for New Artist is phenomenal."

The second Dove award nomination St. Cyr received is for Short Form Music Video of the Year for 'Weary Traveler.'

"For that, all credit goes to our director/producer, Elliott Eicheldinger, who is just a phenomenally gifted videographer, and editor. He does all the things. I'm really blown away and just speechless."

'As Iron Sharpens Iron'

St. Cyr, his wife, and their four children lived in Manitoba until February 2022 when they sold everything and moved to the city of Murfreesboro, just outside of Nashville, Tennessee.

"I think that's originally why we moved to Tennessee. Like-minded people and iron sharpens iron. When you're surrounded by people who have sacrificed something greatly to pursue a greater calling, it really is an affirmation you're where you're supposed to be. When you're put in a category with these people, it's quite affirming that God has me right where He wants me."

St. Cyr toured with Anne Wilson last December and has just announced he'll be on your this fall alongside Ryan Ellis, also one of the nominations.

"Starting September 29 we're hitting the road for the Wholehearted Tour with We Are Messengers. Ryan Ellis will be opening the show and it's going to be such a worshipful night geared towards ministry. Darren Mulligan of We Are Messengers is all heart and Ryan Ellis is a phenomenal worship artist between CCM and worship."

Back at Home

St. Cyr hasn't played a show in Manitoba, his home province, since 2019. This weekend he'll be back for one big night

"I'm so excited to come back home! This is the first and only show this year in Manitoba. Please come out Sunday night at Harvest Fest in Winkler, Manitoba. I'll be playing at 7:00 p.m. and Ellie Holcomb will be there as well."

St. Cyr shares that he will be attending this years GMA Dove Awards ceremony on October 18 in Nashville.

"It's always an honour. Being from a small town from the middle of Canada and now to be kind of in the forefront of the Christian music industry in the U.S., it doesn't make sense in my mind but I'm so grateful."
