Well-known evangelist Franklin Graham is headed to Ukraine to give an Easter message this weekend, encouraging believers to pray.

"I'll be going back to Ukraine to preach an Easter message that will air on @FoxNews Easter Sunday, April 17, at 12 PM ET," says Graham on Twitter.

According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), since Russia invaded Ukraine roughly two months ago nearly 1,800 civilian deaths and left more than 2,400 were injured from bombs and fighting.

Samaritan's Purse set up a medical facility in Lviv, Ukraine, and Graham visited the site in early March. He is the president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), of which Samaritans Purse is a branch of.

"We need to be praying for the people of Ukraine," Graham said to CBN News. "Prayer is the number one thing. Encouraging Christians to pray for those of us that are there responding in Jesus's name that we will be His light. We will be a witness for Him in the middle of this crisis."

Graham is hoping for a ceasefire during the 10 days of Easter observances, April 15 to 24. He wrote a letter to both Russian President Vladimir Putin and to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asking for it.

"I shared with them that I will be calling on churches in Ukraine, Russia, and around the globe to join together in prayer during those 10 days. May we humbly unite before the King of kings and the Lord of lords, the Prince of Peace, to ask for His help and mercy."
