UPDATE:  RCMP working with the Medical Examiner have identified the 4 individuals killed in a tragic house fire in Fox Lake on the Little Red River Cree Nation on Nov. 12, 2022. The deceased have been identified as a 78-year-old male and female, an 8-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl. All individuals are residents of Fox Lake.

The cause of the house fire remains investigation.


On Nov. 12, 2022, at 06:40 a.m. Fox Lake RCMP received a report of a house fire on Barge Road in Fox Lake. Upon arrival, officers observed that the residence was burnt down and likely had been on fire for some time. 2 children, a 5-year-old female, and a 11-year-old male, who were believed to be in the residence during the fire, were reported being at the Fox Lake nursing station where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

On Nov. 13, 2022, RCMP with assistance of fire investigators and a cadaver dog located 4 deceased people in the remains of the home. The deceased have been transported to the Medical Examiner to determine identity and cause of death.

Although the investigation is ongoing, the fire does not appear suspicious.
