Alberta has confirmed 57 new cases of COVID-19 as of today, March 24, one of which is in the County of Grande Prairie. This makes a total of 358 in the province. 

Up to 28 of the total cases are suspected to be from community transmission.19 have been hospitalized, 7 of which are in ICU. 

There remains a total of 2 cases in the City of Grande Prairie.

There are now 2 deaths from the virus in the province. A woman in her 80s from the Mackenzie Town Continuing Care Centre in Calgary passed away. One staff member and 2 other residents have tested positive for COVID-19 - these are in stable condition. Another 11 residents are showing symptoms, with test results pending. The source of the infection is being investigated. 

While most people will have only mild symptoms from the virus, this is not the case for everyone. This is why Alberta Health has been taking extreme measures to prevent the spread.
